Phillip Thomas
Chairman of the Board of Directors
Phillip C. Thomas, President and Chief Executive Officer
at Implant Sciences Corporation (AMEX:IMX), has held senior
leadership positions in several public and private high technology
companies. Prior to joining Implant Sciences, he served for
eight years as CEO of DOBI Medical Systems. Early in his career,
he served as Founder and CEO of a drug delivery company successfully
sold to Baxter Healthcare and as President of Mitek Systems,
Inc. a NASDAQ high tech company specializing in high security
data products sold to the federal government and government
contractor community. Previously, he was Director, Federal
Systems Division at Data General, Inc. and built a $120MM+
product line of high security products at Wang Laboratories
during a five year period.
Prior to embarking on his business career, he served with
distinction for eight years as a decorated U.S. Naval Intelligence
Officer. Mr. Thomas received his undergraduate degree from
Brigham Young University and has completed executive development
courses at the Harvard and Stanford Business Schools.
David B. Eisenhaure
Director
David B. Eisenhaure has served on our board of directors
since November 2002. He has been the President, Chief Executive
Officer and Chairman of the Board of SatCon Technology Corporation
since 1985. From 1974 until 1985, Mr. Eisenhaure was associated
with the Charles Stark Draper Laboratory, Incorporated and
with its predecessor, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's
Instrumentation Laboratory, from 1967 to 1974. Mr. Eisenhaure
also holds an academic position at M.I.T., as a lecturer in
the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Mr. Eisenhaure serves
on the board of directors of Mechanical Technology Incorporated.
He holds a S.B., S.M. and an Engineer's Degree in Mechanical
Engineering from MIT. Mr. Eisenhaure is a member of Implant Sciences’ Compensation and Nominating Committees.
Michael Szycher Ph.D.
Director
Michael Szycher, Ph.D. is the former Chairman and Chief
Executive Officer of CardioTech International, Inc. a manufacturer
of medical products based on specialized polyurethanes. He
holds a Ph.D. from Boston University School of Medicine, and
an MBA from Suffolk University.
Dr. Szycher is a recognized international authority on polyurethanes
and blood compatible polymers, the author over ninety research
articles and a pivotal force in the creation of the Medical
Plastics Division of the SPE. He is the Editor of six books,
Szychers Handbook of Polyurethanes, "Biocompatible
Polymers, Metals and Composites;" "Synthetic Biomedical
Polymers;" "Blood Compatible Materials and Devices:
Perspectives Towards the 21st Century;" High Performance
Biomaterials: A Comprehensive Guide to Medical/Pharmaceutical
Applications;" "Szycher's Dictionary of Biomaterials
and Medical Devices.", "Szycher's Dictionary of
Medical Devices" and Szychers Handbook of Polyurethanes.
He is also Editor-In-Chief of the quarterly Journal of Biomaterials
Applications. Dr. Szycher serves as the Chairman of the Nominating
Committee and is a member of the Audit Committee.
Michael Turmelle
Director
Michael Turmelle was confirmed as a director of the Company in December 2005. He is currently Chief Financial Officer of Premium Power Corporation, a venture capital backed large format electrical energy storage company. Prior to Premium Power, Mr. Turmelle held several management positions with SatCon Technology Corporation, including a director, Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer, Chief Operating Officer and President of SatCon Power Systems. Prior to SatCon he worked for HADCO Corporation in various financial and operating assignments. Mr. Turmelle graduated from the General Electric Financial Management Training program (FMP) in 1984. He holds a B.A. degree in Economics from Amherst College. Mr. Turmelle serves as the Chairman of Implant Sciences’ Compensation Committee and is a member of both the Company’s Audit and Nominating Committees.
Joseph E. Levangie
Director
Joseph E. Levangie was elected to the Companys
Board of Directors in December 2007. He has been CEO of JEL
& Associates, a business advisory firm, since 1981. He
has extensive experience in aiding small-cap public companies
with their financial and strategic growth challenges. Previously,
from 1969-1978, Mr. Levangie was Director of Planning and
Marketing Services for Avco (now Textron) Systems Division,
a major defense contractor. Since 1983, he has helped several
companies become publicly-traded; including Spire Corporation,
American Power Conversion Corporation and Palomar Medical
Technology, Inc. Mr. Levangie holds a S.B. degree in Chemical
Engineering from MIT and an MBA degree from the Harvard Graduate
School of Business Administration. He serves as Chairman of
the Companys Audit Committee and is a member of both
the Nominating and Compensation Committees.
